Illvatn Pumped Storage Power Plant
Construction of Hydro’s Illvatn pumped storage power plant in Luster is moving into one of its main delivery periods.
The project was mobilised in 2025, while tunnel excavation starts in 2026. Hydro’s current timeline shows continued tunnelling through 2029, installation inside the power station from 2027, work on the high-voltage connection, and commissioning in 2030. The development includes an eight-kilometre tunnel and several major electrical and mechanical packages.
This creates a long delivery period for civil works, tunnelling, mechanical installation, high-voltage systems, controls, electrical engineering, commissioning, HSE, QA/QC, and project coordination.

Hydro Karmøy – New Wire Rod Production Facility
A new aluminium wire rod facility is under construction at Hydro’s Karmøy plant.
Skanska announced in Q3 2026 that it had secured a contract worth approximately NOK 1.1 billion to build the facility. The scope includes a production hall with furnaces and a wire rod production line, together with storage, maintenance and office buildings, technical installations, civil works, and connections to existing infrastructure. Completion is scheduled for March 2028.
The new production line will have capacity for approximately 110,000 tonnes of aluminium wire rod annually. Hydro has also entered a five-year supply agreement with Nexans covering around 85,000 tonnes between 2026 and 2030, linking the expansion to future demand from European electricity-grid projects.
The construction period is relevant across structural and civil engineering, mechanical equipment, furnaces, electrical systems, automation, technical installations, commissioning, QA/QC, HSE, and production preparation.

Data Centers
Green Mountain SVG-Undheim – Rogaland
Green Mountain’s new data center at Undheim in Time municipality is progressing through a large construction phase.
The planned facility will have a total power capacity of 100 MW. An analysis published by Green Mountain in August 2026 estimates that the construction period could support around 4,700 full-time equivalents across Norway, including close to 1,300 in Rogaland.
The company also points to opportunities for suppliers within construction, technical services, maintenance, transport, equipment supply, and specialist support.
The scale of the project brings technical requirements across electrical infrastructure, mechanical systems, cooling, controls, MEP, construction management, commissioning, logistics, QA/QC, HSE, and technical services.

Defence
Kvarter Ramsund – New Accommodation Building
Construction of a new accommodation building at Ramsund naval base is underway as part of the continued development of the site.
The project, known as Kvarter Ramsund, will provide 50 rooms with shared facilities for defence personnel. Groundworks started in early 2026, while the main building work began in May. Completion is planned for spring 2027.
Peab is delivering the project under a contract worth approximately NOK 70 million for Forsvarsbygg. The project supports the wider increase in activity at Ramsund and adds new accommodation capacity for personnel using the naval base.
The construction phase is relevant across civil works, structural construction, electrical and mechanical installations, building services, QA/QC, HSE, site management, and technical coordination.
